  • Graduated from Reykjavik Gymnasium in June 1954.
  • Studied philosophy at the University of Edinburg 1955-56, and University of Freiburg 1957-58.
  • Journalist in Reykjavik, Berlin, Middle East and India 1959-63.
  • Studied psychology at the University of Freiburg 1963-66, and the University of Munich 1966-69 (Diploma in Psychology).
  • Visiting Research Fellow at The Institute of Parapsychology 1969-70.
  • Internship in Clinical Psychology at the Department of Psychiatry, University of Virginia, Charlottesville 1970-71.
  • Ph. D. in psychology at the University of Freiburg in February 1972 (with Prof. Hans Bender).
  • Research Associate with the American Society for Psychical Research 1972-74.
  • Lecturer in the Department of Psychology, University of Iceland from 1973. Professor from 1989. Professor Emeritus 1999.
