1989-1994: Assisting supervisor for Þorsteinn Sæmundsson, Department of Quaternary geology, Lund University. He defended his thesis in February 1994. His thesis dealt with the deglaciation of the Vopnafjördur area, Eastern Iceland.

1992-1997: Supervisor for Mats Rundgren. Department of Quaternary geology, Lund University. He defended his thesis in May 1997. His thesis dealt with environmental changes on Northern Iceland during the Pleistocene-Holocene transition.

1995-1999: Supervisor for Torbjörn Andersson, Department of Geology, University of Göteborg. He defended his thesis in November 1999. His thesis dealt with the Late Quaternary glacial and climate history of Prins Karls Forland, Svalbard.

1997-2002: Supervisor for Hanna Lorenkrants, Department of Geology, University of Göteborg. She defended her thesis in June 2002. Her thesis dealt with Late Quaternary glacial history of the southern Kara Sea region, western Siberia. .

1998-2002: External supervisor for Gert Pettersson, Department of Quaternary geology, Lund University . He defended his thesis in October 2002. His thesis dealt with ice retreat and glacial dynamics during the deglaciation of Nortwestern Poland.  

2001-: Supervisor for Sofia Holmgren, Department of Geology, University of Göteborg and UNIS. Her research topic is the Holocene vegetation and climate history of western Svalbard.
