Audio editing programs
For those who choose the second option in Assignment 3, sending in your own edited recording, here is a quick How-To overview.
I suggest you use Audacity, a very good open-source program from SourceForge which you can download free. See the introductory video below.
Students in my Phonetics II course, Autumn 2009, will already have downloaded Praat, which is primarily a phonetics analysis program. However you can easily use Praat to edit audio clips for the Dialects assignments, and I include below a quick screen capture on how to do this.
