An American Herring Gull in Iceland

This first-winter American Herring Gull Larus argentatus smithsonianus was found in the harbour of Þorlákshöfn (SW-Iceland) on 9 March 2004, by Killian Mullarney, Pat Lonergan and Richard Millington. It was shortly after well photographed by Daníel Bergmann and stayed in the harbour all day.

This represents the 6th Icelandic record; the first four being in March 2003, the fifth (a third-winter) also at Þorlákshöfn on 7-9 March 2004 (photo in 2004 gallery) and followed by another first-winter at Sandgerði on 9 March 2004 (7th record).
